Capturing 2024 Senior Class Moments at Canyon Park in Costa Mesa & Newport Beach in Vintage Style

They say photography in itself is like making memories tangible. And if you know me, you already know how much I like making memories last with these seniors.

Meet Vanessa! She is a senior in the class of 2024!

I had the privilege of not only photographing her during her senior year when she was playing her last year of varsity volleyball, varsity cheerleading, and stunt; she was also part of my 2024 Senior Creative Team.

When we were in our planning stages of her senior portrait session, she sent me a few images that represented vintage style that she envisioned. I mean, if we're to be honest, who wouldn't be excited this?! The thing about vintage is that it never goes out of fashion. I KNEW she was going to arrive in style! She didn't disappoint. If you haven't taken a vintage photoshoot, I suggest you do so for an amazing experience.

We started our session at Canyon Park in Costa Mesa. This park was bursting in color. It was filled with fields of blooming yellow flowers that went perfectly with her kintted crop top and jeans. As we made our way through the park, we found a little pond that provided the mood that she was envisioning for her session.

As a senior photographer, I encourage my clients to share their mood boards, outfit ideas, and inspiration. I love doing this because it give me an idea of what they are thinking. I always LOVE being on the same page so we can create images that they will want to share and rave about. It is my job to turn their vision into reality. This session is about them, NOT ME!

After the park, we made our way to the wedge in Newport Beach for her golden hour and sunset photoshoot on the beach. Being on the sand and near the water captured her beautiful and free spirit. She wore a beautiful flowing skirt and walked the beach with her bare feet.

If you follow me as a photographer, you know that I love documenting my clients in the moment. You aren't over posed, but I know how important it is to give guidance on how to pose because my #1 priority is that you feel comfortable in front of the camera. I do that by moving a lot, you get to relax and I do all the work to get the different angles.

When the sun started going down, I had to get a photo of her looking out to the ocean. I asked her to reflect on her last 4 years in high school and dream about her upcoming years as this chapter closes and she walks into a new one.

Want to see more of her images? We took a lot of great shots! Check out the YouTube video for behind-the-scenes footage. If you're thinking of booking a session, this will give you a good idea of what to expect when you shoot with me!

Are you a senior this year looking for an Orange County senior session photographer? I would love to capture and document your beautiful memories. I am already booking your sessions for June-October of this year for class of 2025 seniors.
